The New Orleans Saints’ defense faces major concerns, ranking dead last in the NFL in run defense EPA and rush defense success rate. Despite individual standouts like Chase Young and Carl Granderson, the unit struggles with missed tackles, lackluster pressure, and inconsistent secondary play. Is Brandon Staley’s coaching scheme to blame, or are injuries and player development holding the Saints back?

Justin Reed’s high missed tackle rate, Davon Godchaux’s disappointing play, and sparse production from depth pieces add to mounting frustrations. While the pass rush flashes potential, only Young and Granderson break double digits in pressures, leaving quarterbacks with ample time to exploit wide cushions in coverage. With the Saints at the bye week, does the defense pose a bigger issue than the offense for the season’s second half?
